Upfest 2016
UPFEST – The Urban Paint Festival, created in 2008 between three crazy but art loving individuals. Inspired by Super Cans (Southampton), Cans Festival (London) and the growing number of paint jams around the UK, Upfest was born.
Upfest was originally conceived to get a group of 20 like minded artists together for a day of painting here in Bristol, however the first festival quickly grew to 50 artists once the word was out. It also help that one of the organiser had just been made redundant for the second time in 8 months and had too much time on his hands, after securing (through a few white lies) a fantastic Bristol venue, the Tobacco Factory, the first Upfest took place in October 2008.
Upfest 2016, Europe’s largest, free, street art & graffiti festival, attracting over 300 artists painting 28 venues throughout Bedminster & Southville, Bristol from 23rd – 25th July. Talented artists travel from 25 countries and across the UK to paint live on 30,000sqft of surfaces in front of 25,000 visitors.
Sibiu International Street Art Festival 2016

Hailing from the east coast of Australia, John Kaye migrated west to the sunny city of Perth to undertake a residency at The Butcher Shop. His show “Chained to the Sky” saw work created inside and outside of the studio with overarching themes concerning freedom and a transient lifestyle. John reflects on his most recent body swilling a glass of red, overlooking the yard from a fold up chair on his makeshift verandah.

Painted Oceans
The Painted Oceans feature documentary film will follow the trajectory of 7 of the world’s most famous street artists; SHEPARD FAIREY, HOW & NOSM, FURURA 2000, LONDON POLICE & TRISTAN EATON, as they live together for a month on the abandoned Maunsell Sea forts and paint them. We will follow them from beginning to end, capturing all of the ups and downs along the way. We hope to tell a very personal story as each artist goes against the odds and risks everything to paint epic murals in the middle of the ocean.

WALLCOME Urban Art Festival Schmalkalden
In September 2014 the Thuringian small town of Schmalkalden was ruled by urban art and graffiti. During its main event week, the urban art festival WALLCOME offered films, presentations, exhibitions and live-painting, introducing the many facets of graffiti and urban art. Now, only a year later, WALLCOME’s operators and organisers, including well-known urban artists like AKUT and CASE, look back on their work. A documentary film captures all of the murals that the involved artists created for the festival.
