Painting The City : 10 Ani De Wooster Collective

Wooster Collective sarbatoreste aniversarea de 10 ani de existenta, asa ca au angajat artisti precum Obey, Faith47, London Police, Eltono, Buff Monster si multi altii,sa realizeze murale pe cateva din strazile New York-ului.

10 Years of Wooster Collective: 2003-2013 is a celebration of urban art and its incredible diversity of creativity over the past decade. Marc and Sara Schiller founded Wooster Collective out of their genuine desire to share with the world the ephemeral art they were witnessing emerge from their downtown Manhattan neighborhood. The artwork featured in the show captures the energy, creativity and message of the artists who have grown with Wooster Collective over the years; they have been showcased on Wooster Collective’s website, in the monumental 11 Spring Street show and in Trespass: A History of Uncommissioned Urban Art, a collaboration with the publisher TASCHEN and art historian, Carlo McCormick.

While street artists express themselves in a myriad of ways, they are joined by a set of common principles: reclaiming public space, beautifying the environment and the fighting for the freedom of speech. Street art has become the catalyst for people of all cultural and economic backgrounds to challenge the system and express themselves without any filter. Marc and Sara Schiller have been avid supporters of the movement by acting as a mouthpiece to help artists promote their message to a wider audience through the global community online. Ultimately, 10 Years of Wooster Collective: 2003-2013 is a celebration of street art’s power to transform people and societies for the better.

Nikola Tesla Mural

This mural, dedicated to the life of Nikola Tesla, is freshly painted on the outside of our office building. Turbine Flats in Lincoln, Nebraska is a home to many small businesses and innovators so it’s fitting that Tesla adorns the entire western wall of the building.

REVOK and POSE and the Transformation of The Houston Wall

It took 80 hours and seven humid, sticky days and nights to complete, longer than it took God to make Heaven and Earth, according to scriptures.

But the powerful transformation of the famed Houston street wall that took place last week had as profound an effect on many New York fans of street art and Graffiti as the melting of the North and South poles. And that was probably intentional.

Of the many references are three call outs to their recently and painfully departed MSK brother Nekst, who a handful of crew members had joined together to eulogize on smaller walls in Brooklyn the previous weekend. Among the other names included are Ayer, Vizie, Cheech Wizard, Omenz, Sace, Case 2, Semz, Tie One, Rammellzee, and “All You See is Crime in the City” –- a phrase associated with a famous train car work by Skeme from the 1980s documentary “Style Wars”. The guys even did shout outs to their kids.

Aside from the art category labels and the odes to community, both Revok and Pose are doubled up on this wall because of their common regard for sampling – that is, the combining of a variety of disparate elements and re-contextualizing them. As a basis for their fine art show that just opened at Jonathan Levine Gallery while they were in the city, the two have found that they both have a fairly active studio practice that they can collaborate on also.

Escif

Escif is not an artist or a group of artists. Escif is a project that involves a lot of people. Hundreds… maybe thousands of people. Also everybody who try to understand it, in his own way, are making it happens.
