Painted Pigeons
Italy paints pigeons to make them more beautiful for tourists for a project called “Some pigeons are more equal than others,” artists Julius von Bismarck and Julian Charriere spraypainted a handful of Venice’s pigeons and rereleased them in time for 2012 Venice Biennale. The German duo dyed the birds in the radiant colors of Macaws, Flamingos and Cardinals, with the hope that tourists would notice their beauty, and stop referring to them as “rats of the sky”.

Daddy Long Legs
Seattle artist and science illustrator Marlin Peterson was recently commissioned by the Washington State Artist Trust to paint a mural somewhere in the city. After searching unsuccessfully for a suitably large wall, Peterson got the idea to look for a large roof, and where would a painting on a roof be more visiable than right underneath the Seattle Space Needle. An agreement was reached with the Seattle Center Armory (formerly the Center House) and he quickly began work on two daddy long-leg arachnida using a technique called trompe l’oeil that creates the illusion when seen from above that giganto arachnids are actually overtaking the building. Cei 5 artisti au pictat 10 becuri de mari dimensiuni pentru a sustine City of Energy, un proiect ce-si propune sa schimbe peisajul urban. Caracterizate prin culoare, creativitate şi personalitate, aceste lucrari atipice vor schimba timp de o luna fata orasului.
Dupa o prima editie primita cu entuziasm de catre comunitatile artistice si urbane, Enel Romania revine cu o noua provocare: promisiunea de a transforma orasul!
City of Energy lanseaza inca o data, tuturor pasionatilor de arta urbana, provocarea de a picta posturile de trasformare Enel.
Toti cei interesati se pot inscrie in concurs pe pagina oficiala de Facebook a proiectului – Facebook/EnelSharingRomania, pana in data de 16 septembrie, prin uploadarea celor mai reprezentative lucrari de inspiraţie urbană.
Un juriu specializat va alege 10 artisti finalisti pentru o competitie de live painting in SkatePark Tineretului. Patru cele mai bune lucrari dintre cele 10 expuse vor aduce castigatorilor un premiu individual de 2000 Ron, precum si posibilitatea de a picta cate 2 pereti ai unui post de transformare Enel.

I have been stenciling since 2003 and I thought it was about time I gave people a little insight into how I work. Cutting stencils isn’t a spectacle, it’s done in solitude and so I think a lot of my friends, artist or not, will find this interesting.

Aflat la a III a editie, proiectul romanian papergirl pedaleaza mai departe.
Va asteptam pe toti la vernisaj – sambata 1 septembrie la Saint Ink. Lucrarile va asteapta cuminti pe pereti, iar papergirls, ca intotdeauna, vor avea bere rece in mana (din mana in mana) si briose, care daca nu stiati, merg cu bere.
Muzica bineninteles ca nu va lipsi dar, asa cum v-ati obisnuit, programul se face din mers. Promitem sa nu dezamagim nici anul acesta.
In speranta ca v-ati saturat de mare, va asteptam cu drag pe 1 septembrie la Saint Ink (Strada Doamnei nr. 3), de pe la 7 – 8 seara.
STEN & LEX : Living Walls
Living Walls 2012 : In one week, 26 artists will visually activate our urban landscape in the world’s first all-female street art conference. This year’s Living Walls Conference will change the game for street art and Atlanta.
The five-day conference is scheduled to capacity with film screenings, lectures, block parties, gallery exhibits and bike tours. All events are free and open to the public.
